Butterfly Program
Behaviour Intervention Services - Ages 6 - 18 years
Our Butterfly Program is aimed at supporting children/ youth with diverse needs from the age of 6 - 18 years. age with Behaviour Intervention Services. This program is directly overseen and run by our Early Learning Years Director and BCBA, Nicole Grocock. In addition, this program is faciliated by our Junior Consultant, Kyla Gauthier (currently working towards BCBA), and our many dedicated and trained Behaviour Inteverntionists. We are centre-based, therefore this program is best suited for families that can make a commitment to getting their child to and from services continually.
Our Consulants work with each family to develop a program and plan that meets the individualized needs of each child. While not an exhaustive list, these programs can include support around: toileting, communication, sleep training, social skills, cognitive/ academics, challenging behaviours, personal independance, hygeine, transitions, elopement and more. This may also include supporting families in home where needed, advocacy within the community, or attending team based meetings or IEP's.
Our Behaviour Inteverntionists are skillfully placed with each child where they may be best suited to meet thats child's individuals needs and interests. Together, the Behaviour Inteverntionist will work to build a strong rapport with each child which is the basis before any learning and demands can be placed. After doing so, the Behaviour Interventionist will work on implementing the programs set in place by the BCBA for each child, in a supportive and fun enviroment.
Caterpillar Program ( 2 - 8 years) : Our Centre based program pairs each child with their own individual Behaviour Inteverntionist, while also allowing opportunities for peer interaction, with the potential for up to 5 children and their BI's present at one given time. This program follows a daily routine that includes opportunties like: circle time, craft, snack, supported peer play, along with time spent working on seperate individualized goals away from the group setting. This is adapaptable depending on the goals and best support needs of each child, particularly, this may be more individulaized when a child is just starting services.
For children under the age of 6 years, a minimum of 2 days per week is required, with familys able to choose up to 5 days per week should they wish. ( Typical number of days selected is 3).
For children that have turned 6 years of age, and have further goals to reach before moving to a peer model, only 1 day a week is required.
Cater - Peer Support Program ( 6 - 8 years) : This extentuiation beyond our Caterpillar programming is for children that are 6 years of age and meet our basic requirements for peer sessions. Our peer sessions are a carefully selected group of up to 3 children with simiiar goals, faciliated by our Junior Consultant. This program allows family's to better utilize over 6 funding, while allowing opportunities for further social skill building and
