Behaviour Interventionist

Under the supervision of a Behaviour Consultant (BC), the Behaviour Interventionist (BI) provides direct Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy services for children diagnosed on the autism spectrum
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Implement programs using ABA methods and principles to develop skills and eliminate or minimize challenging behaviours

Conduct one-on-one direct therapy or work with small groups within the centre, home, school or daycare setting

Work independently and efficiently unsupervised, problem solve, and manage challenging situations effectively

Work in a team-oriented environment when facilitating group work
-
Direct work with clients include various physical demands such as sitting on the floor, kneeling, squatting, running, twisting/turning, lifting, and frequent physical transitions

Collect and record data regularly throughout sessions
-
Attend and participate in regular training and team meetings
Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:
-
Valid BC Drivers Licence with a clean Drivers Abstract and reliable transportation
-
Clear Criminal Records Check reworking with vulnerable population
-
Professional, positive attitude and appearance
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-
Comfortable working with children in centre, schools, daycares and home environments
-
Enjoy playing with children
-
Ability to implement all aspects of programs (This may involve singing, dancing, tickling, toilet training, etc.)

Have an open and flexible schedule
Preference will be given to those who:
-
Have a related degree such as ABA, Psychology or Early Childhood Education
-
Be Child CPR and First Aid Certified
-
Have experience with Applied Behaviour Analysis and/or managing challenging behaviours in children
-
Training and/or education related to working with individuals with ASD

Experience working with children
Education Interventionist
Social Butterflies Activities and Learning Ltd Education Interventionist (EI) are passionate, energetic, and outgoing individuals in our Individualized Inclusion Program (IIP), a school-based program that supports students with ASD and other needs ranging from kindergarten to grade 7.
Education Interventionist assist in educating students in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals by using a variety of instructional techniques, communication strategies, behaviour intervention programs, and reinforcement methods. EI’s are responsible for the implementation of curriculum, data collection, and behavior interventions, under both direct and indirect supervision.
Positions are usually permanent, part-time positions and candidates should be available Monday to Friday during school hours with the potential for more hours after school in our social skills groups and behaviour intervention programs. Duties and Responsibilities include:

Work with colleagues to assist and implement day-to-day activities, including special activities and programs
-
Guide individuals and small groups in educational activities, creative and structured play, and social activities
-
Help monitor student activities in the classroom and in various other locations
-
Assist children with classwork and assignments
-
Accompany and supervise students on field trips and during activities in the classroom, school gym, labs, library, and resource centers
-
Assist in daily monitoring of student activities and ensure student safety at all times, including during recess, lunch, or other break periods
-
General classroom maintenance including ensuring a clean and safe environment is always maintained
-
Provide instructional support, behaviour management, and classroom management
-
Perform clerical support duties including maintaining documents as directed by the Program Coordinator

Attend staff development classes, training, and meetings
-
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements:
-
Associate’s degree in Special Education or another related field (Certified EA, Psychology, Education), or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the job

Experience working with children with special educational needs
-
Confidence needed to work in a challenging classroom setting and manage student behaviour effectively
-
Highly organized and able to work collaboratively
-
Ability to perform all physical interventions
-
Ability to follow directions, follow through on classroom plans, and maintain effective working relationships with other personnel
-
Ability to listen, make sound emergency decisions, and effectively work with students in sometimes stressful environments
-
First aid certification or willingness to attain
-
Valid BC Drivers Licence with clean Drivers Abstract. Reliable transportation an asset but may not be necessary

Able to provide a criminal record check
