Early Childhood Intervention

We at Social Butterflies Activities and Learning Ltd, along with scientific researchers, believe early intervention is one of the best things you can do for your child affected by a developmental disability. While each child has their own unique set of strengths and challenges, it is our goal to work across many domains to build the child up, ensuring they will succeed in being the very best version of themselves.

Using an Applied Behaviour Analyses (ABA) framework, which is one of the most researched and effective evidence-based practices available for those with autism, we utilize assessment procedures and programs that will best fit your child’s unique skills and abilities. This may include the Verbal Behaviour- Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP; Sundberg, 2008) , Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills, Revised Edition (ABLLS-R; Partington, 2006). Early Start Denver Model (ESDM;  Rogers & Dawson, 2010) and the Test of Problem Solving 3 Elementary  (TOPS 3; Bowers, Huisingh & LoGiudice, 2005).

Once we have determined your child’s individual strengths and challenges, we work together with the family to identify and design goals that reflect the child’s individual needs.

Programs are typically created across multiple domains to ensure a balanced skill set is developed. These domains may include communication, attention, play, social skills, life skills, emotion regulation, fine and gross motor skills, visual perception, safety, and academic skills.

Programs are designed by an experienced Behaviour Consultant who will oversee and guide your team of trained Behaviour Interventionists. They will work one-on-one with your child, creating learning opportunities and building on progress. In addition, parent training is also available to assist families in working together to reach goals as well, as to effectively manage any problem behaviours that may have arisen.

Behaviour Intervention is one of the most comprehensive and beneficial things you can do for your child. A team-oriented framework that reflects you and your child’s individual goals, skill sets, and lifestyle ensures programming is adaptable to your family’s values without sacrificing quality.
